Winger IV Shrapnel After more than a decade of being
absent from the recording scene, 80’s Hair Metal act Winger have
resurfaced with a new CD simply called, IV. There seems to be a growing
trend amid 80’s rockers who once ruled the world and who have now decided to
take another run at what they do best i.e., creating some of the best music
ever written. Gone are the notions of fame and fortune that once seemed so
important. Taking their place is the pure unadulterated passion to rock as hard
as they can and bring satisfaction to themselves and the masses. Joining the
club that also includes Skid Row, Warrant, Stryper, Great
White and a handful of other legends of the past, Kip Winger and company
are ready to show the world that they are truly seasoned in their artistic
endeavors and have created what may well be the most respected work of their
career. For long time fans the new CD may
not be exactly what you might expect as the guys have opted to deliver a
blatantly more progressive element this time around. The band mixes the classic
Winger sound with more acoustic-laden tracks that one might find
reminiscent of King Crimson or Mott The Hoople,
while still giving an ode to the classic rock sounds of Van Halen. The
party-like attitude of she’s only seventeen has been replaced with a decisively
more serious approach that takes on a semi-political point of view. With the
current war still active in the Favorite tracks include; “Right Up
Ahead”, “Blue Suede Shoes”, “M16”, and “Can’t Take It Back”. Kip Winger (bass/vocals)
