Onslaught Killing Peace Candlelight Grand Thrash Metal veterans Onslaught
have returned stronger than ever with their latest release Killing Peace
out now on Candlelight Records. Back in the bands ranks is vocalist Sy Keeler who also sang on the 1986 album The Force. Keeler's raspy vocal ability leads the way in this onslaught (pun intended) of epic thrash metal proportions. The album contains nine scorching cuts of relentless anti-Christian aggression making Killing Peace
exactly what you’d expect from these legends in their own right. Sonically
driven, satanically inspired and easily adorned by the Metal masses, Onslaught
have truly out done themselves and deserve all the respect they get. From a production standpoint it’s
really great to hear such a crisp work of art here in the 21st century. Back in
the day we were lucky to get a halfway decent production job on an album in the
thrash vein, as no one had really mastered the controls until Rick Rubin
delivered us Slayer’s South Of Heaven. Killer tracks such as
“Burn”, “Twisted Jesus” and “Planting Seeds of Hate” may show the bands lack of
lyrical and musical originality and find some fans of the genre insisting that
they are just another evil metal band but their passion and uncompromising
approach to their art remains the core of their existence and true fans of old
school Slayer/Venom era thrash will absolutely eat this album up. It will be interesting to see just
how the Metal Communities will take to this recent sacrifice that the band has
offered up. Killing Peace is definitely a worth while addition to the
Metal family but whether or not it will be invited to dinner or left to fend
for itself remains to be seen. Let’s hope that proper credit is given where
credit is due. Anyway you look at it Onslaught are waging war and I’m
sure we will be hearing more from the frontlines. -Priest |
