Threshold - Branching Out

Interview By: David Priest © 2007 On Track Magazine.com

England’s premiere prog-rock band Threshold have unleashed their finest moment to date in Dead Reckoning the latest effort from their long line of exuberant releases. Speaking with guitarist and band founder Karl Groom I decided to investigate the reasons why the band who have been in existence since the late 80’s are just now making their mark on American soil and how their image doesn’t exactly fit the bell of what most expect to see in a Metal band. In addition we discussed the decision to use a relatively mellow ballad like song as their first single and the record labels vision to see the band tap into a much larger audience. Overall my time chatting with Karl was very interesting and well worth my time. Threshold as previously mentioned, are just beginning to scratch the surface of the American audience and Dead Reckoning was my first real introduction to the band. They are a fantastic group of dedicated musicians and I have since become a big supporter of their music, in fact I have recently picked up a few more of their back catalog for my personal collection.
