Kamelot - Entertaining Spirits

Interview By: David Priest © 2007 On Track Magazine.com

Without a doubt one of my favorite bands in existence today is American/Norwegian Power Metaler’s Kamelot. Extremely passionate, musically superior in every facet they prove once again that the genre of Heavy Metal is worthy of maintaining its place in rock history. The band, who recently passed through my corner of the world in support of their latest release Ghost Opera are making heavy strides into the growing resurgence of Metal and are poised to be primary contenders in the years to come. Frontman Roy Khan is absolutely brilliant in his vocal delivery and stands alongside such Metal greats such as Ronnie James Dio (Dio), Bruce Dickenson (Iron Maiden) and Geoff Tate (Queensryche). Standing in contrast to the large amount of Metalcore acts that are hitting hard throughout the states it is quite a breath of fresh air to have a band that is focused more on the traditional stylings of Metal and its more complex structures than the simplicity of the modern trend. I was graciously granted the opportunity recently to speak one on one with Khan to get the latest inside scoop on everything related to the band and their quest to bring to the masses dynamic songwriting in the Kamelot way.
