Keep Of Kalessin - Of Colossal Proportions

Not surprising in the least is that the Black Metal scene in
Norway is continuing to develop a solid fan base across the
rest of the world and more specifically here in the states. I suppose it’s all
a matter of supply and demand and there seems to be a lot of demand for these
types of dark and philosophically enriched artists on American soil. No doubt
not from a conservative traditionalist perspective but probably due to the mass
amount of political chaos that continues to plague the American dream, a dream
that by the way most Americans view as myth as they have yet to experience any
incarnation of this much coveted but elusive aspiration. Ultimately this has led
most of us to not by into the promises of our leaders and call for reform or at
least re-evaluation. Norway’s Keep Of Kalessin are far from the Americanized view of what we
see in our country and represent along with others from the Black Metal
movement and the bands area of the world a decisively different approach to a
world view. Right or wrong they are definitely shaking much of the civilized
world from their comfort zones. I recently had the opportunity to speak with
guitarist and founding member Obsidian C in regard to the bands latest release
their debut in the U.S. and a few of the controversial points of view that they
are faced with both on a global scale and within their own cult movement, a
very interesting and much more intelligent conversation than I’ve had in recent
months with others from the Black Metal genre. Check it out!
