Evergrey Torn SPV Sweden’s dark melodic metal visionaries Evergrey have returned with their most
prominent material in years. Following a slightly experimental bout with their
previous offering, 2006’s Monday Morning
Apocalypse the guys have taken things back to form and given fans exactly
the album they’d hoped for. The new CD, Torn,
finds the guys exuding a tremendous amount of passion and promise. As they have
regained many of the elements that contributed to their initial popularity, this
latest feat of genius has definitely helped re-establish them as forerunners of
the Melodic Metal landscape. Vocalist Tom S. Englund’s
vocal delivery is as poignant as ever, rich with melodic and soulful texture.
The dark themed lyrics are perfectly at home with their sinister sounds of driven
melodic heavy metal. Prolific artwork also accompanies this masterpiece. The
band’s new bassist Jari Kainulainen
(ex-Stratovarius)
fits perfectly in the Evergrey camp
and fans will be very happy when they take this new album on the road. |
