Megadeth Anthology:Set The World Afire Capitol Not that the world needs yet another set of collected works
from the almighty Megadeth but… we
get one anyways. The two-disc Anthology:
Set The World Afire may in fact be the most comprehensive best of to hit
shelves thus far and is definitely worth checking out if you don’t already own
one of the previous collections or if you are just such a diehard that you need
to own every little thing that carries the bands name. Everything that you’d expect is here and more sans anything
from the bands post Capitol days which includes the last three albums. So, as
complete as it may be it is still incomplete and ultimately means that
somewhere down the road we can expect another Greatest Hits compilation. It
would be nice if we could just have volumes chronologically dating the bands
material rather than buying the same CD with every track pretty much the same
ands only a few alternatives. My biggest gripe with albums such as this though
is the inclusion of live material. I believe that live cuts should be left with
full live albums or at the very least include both the original studio offering
as well as the live version. In the case of this Anthology it almost
accomplishes the task where both versions of “Peace Sells” are included but we
are left with only the live cut of “Symphony of Destruction”. All in all Anthology:
Set The World Afire will be sure to appease the appetites of rattleheads
everywhere to one degree or another, I mean after all it is Dave Mustaine and
company and you can never go wrong such a fantastic and legendary component as Megadeth! |
