Tesla

Forever More

Tesla Electric Co

Following the demise of the hair band era in the early 90’s it was a miracle that any would find their way back to the frontlines of rock… or so the critics would have you think. Perhaps the most underestimated generation in rock history these guys, the majority of which bled for their right to live in the spotlight had something special to offer the world; TALENT! Few saw past the hair and make up to realize this but with so many artists from that generation on the rise again it is now becoming much clearer. One mega contribution to the cause was and is Sacramento California’s blues rock legends Tesla. Always one to counter against the trends and more or less do their own thing may be precisely the reason for them still being in the game.

The guys have returned with their first full length release since 2004’s Into The Now. Following a successful bout with two covers CD’s they are once again ready to incorporate yet another exiting chapter in the legacy of their sound. Forever More is a stellar release that encompasses everything you might expect from such a gifted band of musicians. It’s heavy rockin, melodic, passionate, and balls out bluesy from start to finish. The years have definitely been kind to these guys and with chemistry as solid as this it really was no surprise that this record would be a hit. Being that this is the first release to feature new guitarist Dave Rude I wondered how they’re sound might be affected, but truth be told, Mr. Rude is such a perfect match that the tried and true sound of Tesla remains remarkably intact. Vocalist Jeff Keith is nails every note and while some of his peers may be singing in a lower key these days his pipes are in prime condition. The same can also be said for guitarist Frank Hannon whose bluesy entourage shines wonderfully in each and every cut.

Forever More is twelve tracks of perfection on every front. Check out the patriotic “Pvt. Ledbetter” in which they show appreciation for our troops fighting in the Middle East. There’s a truly heartfelt guitar solo hear that sticks out and fits right in with the message of the song. Emotion and passion are found her at a ridiculous level, songs such as “In A Hole Again”, and the title track are sure to become fan favorites with ease. What a fantastic achievement for these rock veterans. I look forward to hearing these tunes in a live setting very soon.
