Scar Symmetry Dark Matter Dimensions Nuclear Blast After eponymous Melodic Death
Metaller’s Scar Symmetry lost their seminal lead vocalist Christian
Älvestam, the future of the band was bleak to say the least as his vocals in
many ways stood at the very crux of the bands astonishing sound. In what became
a tremendous shock to the Metal community, Scar Symmetry managed to
emerge victorious and overcome this momentous obstacle by returning to the fold
with not one but two lead vocalists both of which are fully capable of filling
the shoes of the aforementioned Christian Älvestam; in clean and Death Metal
vocal styles! Dark Matter Dimensions finds the band at peak performance
and ready to take on the world once again with their highly invigorating and
truly significant musical acuity. New vocalists Roberth Karlsson and Lars
Palmqvest bring to the table an energy that previous recordings have
unfortunately lacked. If the old cliché is true and there is truly strength in
numbers this new CD undoubtedly proves it. The contrast between guttural blasts
and sonically superb clean vocals is way over the top and ridiculously
entrancing. The first impression delivered with Dark
Matter Dimensions may be the bands new members, but the musical factions
here are top notch as well taking the band to an entirely new level and giving
fans an opportunity to chew on some of the most well rounded, creatively
challenging musicianship on display amid the Metal world today. The melodic
dual guitar attack of Jonas Kjellgren and Per Nilsson is at an all time best. Stand out cuts include, “Pariah”, “The
Iconoclast”, “A Paranthesis In Eternity”, “Mechanical Soul Cybernetics” and “Noumenon
and Phenomenon”. All in all Dark Matter Dimensions represents an
extremely intelligent and diverse album well worth inclusion in any Metal
devotee’s collection. -Priest |
