Bloodgood - The Mission Continues!

Blind Guardian

Interview By: David Priest © 2010 On Track Magazine.com

There are definitely a number of bands that have played an integral part in the shaping of my philosophies, world views and both social and spiritual maturity. Surprising I’m sure to most, these are often not the typical choices one might expect to peg from a diehard Metal fan such as myself but I’ve always prided myself at looking out for that one anomaly, however insignificant and running with it nevertheless. One such band that spoke to me in ways that others simply did not is the pioneering Christian Metal band Bloodgood, who having never achieved mainstream success, were never signed to a major record label and were never given the support they so rightly deserved from the Metal community still manage to move forward after nearly 30 years in the business. Could the key to their longevity be their unwillingness to ever compromise their position as evangelists first? Or possibly it’s that they are more passionate about their art than most? I recently had the distinct pleasure of sitting down with founding members Michael Bloodgood and Les Carlsen to discus the bands amazing tenure, the trials and tribulations they’ve face as any other band does and their ability to overcome those obstacles set in their way. We spoke of their willingness to do what others would not and how the band plans to continue on in the years to come. Bloodgood 2010 consists of original members Michael Bloodgood, Les Carlsen, Mark Welling, longtime guitarist Paul Jackson and the addition of new guitarist Oz Fox of Stryper fame.
