Anvil

Juggernaut Of Justice

SPV

Canada's veteran Metal force - Anvil have returned with their latest musical vision Juggernaut Of Justice. Following the huge success of the bands own documentary Anvil: The Story of Anvil and their subsequent 13th studio release aptly titled This Is Thirteen. Juggernaut Of Justice is perhaps their most anticipated work to date. The irony of it all is that when it comes to Metal persistence and dedication really do pay off. Anvil have been at it far longer than even the biggest most legendary bands in the industry but have had very little to show for it until recently. The guy have finally managed to come out on top and there is more interest in this band than ever before.

I find the title of this CD fitting so very well absolutely characteristic of the bands legacy. So what exactly does JOJ bring to the table? Well, if you are a tried and true fan of anything early by the likes of Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer and even Metallica, these are the guys who paved the way and that notion is felt throughout the twelve tracks of JOJ. Song strengths include, the title track, "New Orleans Voo Doo", "This Ride", the comical "Fuken Eh!", "Conspiracy" and the experimental "Swing Thing".

From a production standpoint, this CD is very similar to their last although helmed this go round by famed producer Bob Marlette. Also eerily similar is the lyrical content, especially prevalent in songs such as the aforementioned "New Orleans Voo Doo", and "Paranormal". Frontman Steve "Lips" Kudlow is a riff master in his own right and the chemistry that he and bassist Robb Reiner create give Anvil exactly the fuel needed to pull this album off. All in all the fourteenth offering from one of Metal's true warrior casts is a worthy addition to the collection.
