Ralf Scheepers of Primal Fear

As is the prerogative of many vocalists who front well known bands for any length of time, the need to release a solo effort almost goes without saying. Why exactly this is can be speculated on until the cows come home but ultimately remains a mystery. Of the many who have traveled this road there are still those of whom we would all like to see journey down this path. Thankfully with each passing year we are delivered a handful of talented frontmen/women who have earned the right to fly solo. Early 2011 brings into being the first stand alone offering from one of Metal's most prolific frontmen Mr. Ralf Scheepers of German Metal vets Primal Fear. I was lucky enough to get in touch with Ralf to discuss his decision to step out solo at this point in his career, his true feelings behind not landing the frontman position for Judas Priest which was given to Tim "Ripper Owens" following Rob Halford's departure from the band in 1992 in addition to his thoughts on Primal Fear's continued longevity despite losing more members in the last year or so. Needless to say, Ralf truly is a wonderful and uplifting force for the genre and I am very pleased with having been granted this inside look. Metal truly is forever when it comes to the passion that this one man exudes.
